This life or Second Life?
Although the normally fast-paced recruitment market is starting to slow down due to the economic climate and time of year, where technology is concerned, it’s definitely gearing up.
Recruiters are moving away from the traditional routes normally used (application packs, telephone interviews) and moving towards newer, less conventional methods. Oldham Council recently held a live ‘webinar’ so potential candidates could ask questions and hear directly from the Council Leader and Chief Executive about their plans for the future and there are several councils who have created online presences with Second Life (an internet based virtual world) to help engage with their staff and residents.
Do you think the online and real worlds are blurring? Would you like to meet your next employer through your computer screen, rather than face-to-face? Or have you already embraced the future and love or loathe it?
We’re interested to hear your views about the way technology impacts on your day-to-day work and what you’d like to see continue, improve or disappear for good.
